'Books shouldn’t be daunting; they should be funny, exciting, and wonderful; and learning to be a reader gives a terrific advantage.' Roald Dahl

This course introduces students to Key Stage Three study, providing comprehensive coverage of the English National Curriculum for Years 7 and 8. The aim is to build knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm for English. In this class, we revise and extend skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students become ‘reading detectives’, using inference and deduction to solve reading mysteries and enhance comprehension. We consolidate grammatical knowledge, broaden vocabulary, and expand the structural devices available in students' ‘English Toolbox.’

🗂️ WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

In our small, supportive online classes, students will

📖 Read a variety of texts—developing comprehension, inference, and analysis skills.

📝 Write for different purposes and audiences, including narratives, reports, and persuasive texts.

🔍 Learn to interpret tone, perspective, and style in various texts.

✍️ Practice writing to build confidence for assessments.

💬 Receive weekly individual feedback and clear targets for improvement.

All resources are structured to build skills gradually and support long-term progress—not just cramming for an exam.
