Ready for the Exam Room
At Nexus Educate, we help home-educated students access nationally and internationally recognised qualifications and achieve the results they need to progress. We know that sitting an exam as a private candidate can feel daunting. That is why all of our courses dedicate time to exam technique and skills assessment. We don't just teach the material; we ensure our students know exactly how to approach the paper.
To ensure students are fully prepared, we include two mock assessments in our courses. We spend lesson time on 'walk and talk' questions, where we go through past papers in detail and plan answers together. Students then complete their mock papers under timed conditions at home, which we mark with specific, detailed, actionable targets for improvement.
Where to Sit Your Exams
While booking examinations is ultimately a parental responsibility, we are here to support you every step of the way. You can enter your child with any school, college, or private provider that is registered to take private candidates. We are always happy to liaise directly with your chosen school or centre to support your application.

Choosing a Centre
Access Arrangements
If your student requires access arrangements—such as a smaller room, supervision for rest breaks, extra time, or the use of a laptop—it is vital to get these in place as early as possible. These specific accommodations fill up very fast at independent centres, so we recommend that you secure your spot well in advance.
Our Partners
We know how difficult it can be to find a centre that accommodates home-educated students within reasonable travelling distance, so we don’t limit where students sit their exams. Our primary learning partners are listed below, however we work with whichever centre works best for you.
Soli
Provides all-in-one pastoral support for home-educated students, including excellent SEN and SEMH services.
A fantastic non-profit organisation that helps home-educating families, with a dedicated exam centre based in Hampshire.
A flexible and friendly independent examination centre based in Bristol, making things much easier for our students based in the Southwest.

Coursework Fully Supported
We know that subjects with a non-examined assessment (NEA/coursework) or a spoken language component can be a headache for private candidates.
No need to worry. For all of our courses that include an NEA (such as GCSE Film Studies, Media Studies, and A-Level Literature), all tutorials, marking, authentication, and moderation are included in your course fee. Because we teach these subjects as live, interactive classes, we can authenticate and support your student's coursework from start to finish. We also include individual tutorials as part of the NEA process.
