'When I want to understand what is happening today… I look back.' Oliver Wendell Holmes

Our engaging and accessible IGCSE History course explores the causes and consequences of major events in 20th-century world history—from peace settlements to Cold War tensions.

Specifically designed for home-educated students, this course brings the past to life through vivid discussion, critical analysis and clear, structured learning. Students examine history from multiple perspectives, learning how to weigh evidence, explore context, and express logical, well-supported conclusions.

🗂️ WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

In our small, live, discussion-led online classes, students explore:

🕰️ The Treaty of Versailles and its aftermath
🧩 Changing power dynamics in Europe from WWI to the Cold War
🪖 The rise and fall of Nazi Germany
🌍 Key global tensions, including superpower rivalry and nuclear threat

We investigate big questions like:

  • Was the Treaty of Versailles fair?

  • How far was Hitler’s foreign policy responsible for WWII?

  • Who was to blame for the Cold War?

  • How effectively did the USA contain communism?

Alongside historical knowledge, students develop vital skills in source evaluation, analytical writing, extended essays, and constructing arguments—all crucial for GCSE and beyond.
