'Sociology is the study of the way in which human beings are shaped by things they don’t see.' Sam Richards

Sociology helps students make sense of the world they live in. It explores how identity, choices, and opportunities are influenced by broader social structures—and how individuals, in turn, can influence change.

Through the study of real-world issues like inequality, crime, globalisation, and education, students develop critical thinking skills and learn to view the world through multiple lenses—skills that are both academically powerful and personally enriching.

🗂️ WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

In our small-group, discussion-led online classes, students will:

🧠 Explore the key concepts of sociology, such as socialisation, stratification, and identity
🏠 Examine the role of the family, education, and media in shaping individuals
📊 Analyse sociological theories and methods, including how sociologists conduct research
🌍 Evaluate pressing social issues such as:
• What are the effects of globalisation on cultures?
• How does education reinforce or challenge inequality?
• In what ways does crime reflect societal values and norms?

Students will also strengthen core skills in essay writing, evidence-based argument, and analytical reasoning—skills that support success across GCSEs.
