History, Sociology and Politics Courses

IGCSE COURSES

At Nexus Educate, we bring Liberal Arts learning to life through humanities courses that inspire curiosity, critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world. We equip students with the analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills essential for navigating an ever-changing world.

At a time when our planet faces enormous challenges, the ability to question assumptions, analyse data, evaluate sources and interpret meaning has never been so important. On our humanities courses, students don’t just gain knowledge—they explore the complexities of our collective heritage and develop a vital understanding of issues that impact our lives on a daily basis. The range of skills acquired whilst studying a humanities subject is a valuable cultural competency and a strong foundation for academic and professional success.

No prior study necessary; a genuine interest in the subjects is essential.

SOCIOLOGY IGCSE

Sociology is 'the study of the way in which human beings are shaped by things that they don't see.' Sam Richards

The Cambridge IGCSE Sociology course explores the complexities of society and the intricacies of human behaviour in different social contexts. By examining our daily interactions with social structures and institutions, students learn to question assumptions, evaluate evidence and hone their analytical and problem-solving skills. We explore topics like poverty, globalisation, gender inequality and environmental sustainability and encourage students to consider diverse perspectives on each area of focus – all valuable skills in today's interconnected world.

HISTORY IGCSE

‘History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived but if faced with courage, need not be lived again’. Maya Angelou

At Nexus Educate we teach the Cambridge IGCSE Modern History Option to enable students to gain a greater understanding of international issues that impact the world around us today. We explore significant events, people and movements of the twentieth century considering the evolving socio-political landscape and the nature of cause and consequence, continuity and change. Students learn how to use and interpret historical evidence, how to present clear, logical arguments and how to evaluate different perspectives to reach informed conclusions about historical events.

'...helped me hugely throughout my education, guiding me from GCSE through to A level with crucial exam practice and technique... Without her help, I would not have achieved my A grades. Laura's guidance and advice helped me to land a place at Edinburgh University, where I am now studying Ancient History.
